Summer Festival Circuit Recap: 5 Countries, 12 Shows

We started this summer festival circuit in June and just got back with our voices shot, our gear falling apart, and our bus running on fumes and hope. Five countries, twelve shows. Seoul → Bangkok → Hong Kong → Singapore → Kuala Lumpur → Manila → Taipei, then doubling back through Japan, South Korea festivals, and closing out in Busan. Some nights we were the main stage headliners. Some nights we played at 2 PM to about 300 people who were really there for the food trucks.

Bangkok was 42 degrees and we performed in full black; our drummer passed out during “Hollow” and came back for the final chorus like nothing happened. Hong Kong was the biggest crowd—maybe 8,000 people—and a monsoon started right at the climax of our second song. We kept playing. Singapore was clean and perfect and somehow the least memorable. The 2 PM Manila crowd had never heard of us and by the end they were losing it. That’s the magic of touring. You never know which day will hit hardest.

By show 11, Kai couldn’t bend his fingers anymore. By show 12, Aria was hoarse and singing in a lower register that somehow made everything better. We all agreed: when you’re broken enough, you get out of your own way. That’s when the magic happens. We’re already booking next summer. Can’t stop. Won’t stop. The road is Mirae’s real home now.
